Burials in Valley View / Luther Cemetery

This page presents a list of burials in the Luther Cemetery, Oklahoma County, OK, which is located 1 mile west and about 1/2-mile north of Luther. The oldest portion, originally known as Valley View, served the Garnettville community before Luther was founded.
All of these people [barring an oversight] are also included in our WorldConnect
database
The core of this list is a 1963 LDS canvas. It probably does not
include some of the oldest graves, whose markers may not have survived that
long. It also includes many burials since 1963, but the newer portion of the list is by no means complete because
it came from family surveys, tombstone photos, obituaries and our family clippings collection,
which is heavily weighted toward the "oldtimers". The 2003 Survey has
been incorporated only for Section 1, but this provides much more information
than a simple canvass and thus may help us identify now unmarked graves.
There is also a 2000
Canvass online now, which provides information about the more recent
burials.
Sources include tombstone photos and obituaries, in addition to the 1963 canvas of the cemetery. In each case, the most precise available information is presented.
The original survey data are presented in black, supplemental information is highlighted.
For example, some double stones do identify married couples – but if that information is available from other sources it's included in the table whether or not it's actually on the tombstone. Also, the table presents exact dates if they are available from an obituary but the tombstone has only years. When possible, women are listed with given, maiden, and married name. Although the maiden name rarely appears on a tombstone, the middle initial on her marker often stands for a woman's maiden name rather than her middle name.
MNU means Maiden Name Unknown.
