Luther Township, Oklahoma County, O.T.

Contact:  Sharon McAllister

Henry Adams is listed on the 1900 census for Luther Township and the 1907 ownership map. This family was Black, and came to this area from Louisiana as did the Black families who had adjoining farms (Greenhoward, Thomas, and Magloire).  We are still trying to determine the relationship, if any, to them.

Descendants of Henry Adams

Generation No. 1

1. HENRY1 ADAMS was born August 1860 in Louisiana, and died Aft. 1900. He married MARTHA "ADAMS" Abt. 1892. She was born January 1875 in Texas, and died Aft. 1900.

Children of HENRY ADAMS and MARTHA "ADAMS" are:

i. SARAH2 ADAMS, b. December 1888, Louisiana.

ii. MARTHA ADAMS, b. April 1893, Louisiana.

iii. LUCINDA ADAMS, b. June 1895, Oklahoma.

Timeline & Unsolved Mysteries

The birth dates on the census suggest that this family came to the Luther area between April of 1893 and June of 1895.  If Henry made the Run of '95, he was not successful as his farm was leased, set-aside School Land.

What was Martha's maiden name?  What brought them to the area?  Were either related to any of the early settlers of the nearby Unassigned Lands or Iowa Lands?
