This family was Black, and came to this area from the same part of Louisiana as several other early Black families.  We are still trying to determine the relationships among them.

1. UNKNOWN¹ TUSANT was born in Louisiana, and died Bef. 1900. He married OCTAVIA "TUSANT". She was born December 1855 in Louisiana, to parents also born in Louisiana, and died Aft. 1900.

Known children of UNKNOWN TUSANT and OCTAVIA "TUSANT" are:

i. ELY² TUSANT, b. 1875, Louisiana; d. Aft. 1900.

ii. ANGELINE TUSANT, b. 1879.

2. iii. AGNUS TUSANT, b. 1875, Louisiana; d. Aft. 1900.

2. AGNUS² TUSANT (UNKNOWN¹) was born 1875 in Louisiana, and died Aft. 1900. She married UNKNOWN NARO. He died Bef. 1900.

Children of AGNUS TUSANT and UNKNOWN NARO are:

i. WALTER³ NARO, b. August 1898, Oklahoma Territory; d. Aft. 1900.

ii. JOSEPH NARO, b. April 1900, Oklahoma Territory; d. Aft. 1900.

Timeline & Unsolved Mysteries:

On the 1900 census for Luther Township, Octavia Tusant was listed as the Head of Household, widowed, and mother of 5 with 4 children still living. She worked as a clerk in a Dry Goods store and owned her home free of mortgage (from context, most likely in the original town site of Luther). This family remains somewhat of a mystery, as only two of her children are accounted for.  What were the names of the others?  Were any living in the area?
