Obion Co. 1830 Census |
This is a workspace – a collection of households to be compared with families found on other records. Some can be correlated. Others can't. Ages of individuals have been determined by comparing later data or information from other sources with the 1830 Schedule. All matches are a matter of conjecture, to varying degrees, but provide clues that may lead to more solid proof. |

Cole, John H. 00101001-00100001 |
This appears to be the household of John Henry COLE, who had a farm on the state line in neighboring Hickman Co. KY. Oral tradition has it that this was a "large" family, but we have been able to identify only four offspring. The extended family lived along the border so some of the answers undoubtedly lie in Kentucky census records. John Henry COLE died in 1835, so does not appear on later census records. |
Male 10-15 |
Marvel COLE. Household #694 on the 1850 census for Obion Co. |
Male 20-30 |
James Madison COLE, who was enumerated as Household #638 on the 1850 census for Obion Co, would have been only 17 in 1830. Otherwise, no match although I believe that John Henry had more children I haven't yet found. |
Male 50-60 |
John Henry COLE himself. |
Female 10-15 |
Elizabeth 'Minerva' COLE. Household #639 on the 1850 census for Obion Co. |

Male 30-40 |
Presumably John Gore, although according to the 1850 census he would have been only 24 at this time. |
Female 20-30 |
Mary Gore, John's wife, would have been 27. |
Female 20-30 |
Jane Gore, listed in the household in 1850, would have been 29 at this time. |
