General Genealogy Sites

Home of Ceil's Corner and most of the free genealogy sites it links to.  Look for the RootsWeb logo (shown above) on all of our gateway pages.  It will take you to the RootsWeb home page and from there you can find just about anything.

Home page of RootsWeb's WorldConnect project, which has now been merged with Ancestry's similar endeavor to form a very large collection of family trees.  Access is free.

Subscription service well worth exploring because it has many free areas.  Its "Subscribers-only" features are well-marked and you can select subscriptions to different types of information.

Extensive set of Message Boards, both for surnames and geographical areas.

  Family Tree Maker

Recently acquired by Ancestry, but still provides access to some Users' Family Tree sites.  Some parts of this site are subscription-only.

The 1891 Grain Dealers and Shippers Gazetteer

This Gazetteer also includes a number of Railroad Maps, showing how the various lines linked the midwest to the rest of the country.  This site has been moved, but I hope to find its new address and reset the link.

Geographic Names Information System.  Search engine can find many different features, such as cemeteries, as well as towns.  Improved map interface now provides a choice of the type of map to view.

Topographic maps, can be used to relate latitude & longitude to Section-Township-Range numbers and locate many places not shown on less detailed maps.

Oklahoma-Related Sites
