Original Homesteaders of Deep Fork Township
The following people received
patents to land in Deep Fork Township. Those who filed but later
relinquished their claims have not been included.
When known, I've added Race to this chart. There are many cases in which early settlers share a surname but appear to be unrelated, so I hope this helps with the sorting process. A question mark means simply that I have not found the individual on the census and am not in contact with the family so am not sure.
Dwelling # came from the 1900 census. I am still
cross-checking these records, so don't assume that the mere lack of a Dwelling #
means that the family wasn't there. An asterisk (*), however, indicates
that I did not find the individual as a Head of Household in Deep Fork Township.
In some cases, the homesteader had died but the family still lived there.
In others, the homesteader was enumerated in another household or in
an adjacent Township.
If you recognize one of these people, please write to me, Sharon McAllister.
