About Dewey Township |
Dewey Township (T13N-R1E) is in northeastern Oklahoma County, bounded on the east by the Lincoln County line. Its northern border is about 1 1/2 miles south of Luther, its western boundary about 2 miles east of Jones, and its southern one runs through State Center (about 4 miles north of Harrah).
Today, it is an essentially rural area. Schools shown on the 1909
topographic map include: Atwood (on the southwest corner of Section 4),
Vernon (on the northern edge of Section 8, and Grovedale (on the northwest
corner of Section 28). |

|
Because the northern border of Dewey Township is only about a mile from the town of Luther, my Area Study quickly included many of its families. |

Founding
Families |
Genealogy reports for families in the area during Territorial Days. Because there were so many marriages across township and even county lines, these are linked as a single set instead of divided by Township. |

find information contributed by others who are researching
area families. |
