About Wellston Township

Located in the western portion of Lincoln County, bordering Oklahoma County's Luther Township, Wellston Township's largest community is the town of Wellston itself. If you are researching the old families of Captain Creek, you may well find information in old copies of the Luther Register as its founding families often had ties to families Oklahoma County.

You will find more information about the area and its families on the Lincoln County GenWeb site, as well as in Sharon's Place.

Schools shown on the 1909 Topographic Map:  Sunflower (eastern edge of Section 20) and Spring Valley (southeast corner of Section 22).

Because the western border of Wellston Township is only 3 miles from the town of Luther, and the two towns are connected by Route 66, there are many connections among the Founding Families of the two towns.

Index to 1900 Census Heads of Household on each page of the 1900 census for Wellston Township.

Founding Families

Genealogy reports for families who were in the area during Territorial Days. Because there were so many marriages across township and even county lines, these are linked as a single set instead of divided by Township.

World Connect Project I have uploaded my GEDCOM for this entire area study.  You can go directly to my database, smc, and consult its index or use the link at left and its global search feature to find information contributed by others who are researching area families.
